To simplify the concept we can image the Fuel Cell like a battery, that do not need to be recharged, but that instead, you can fuel with Hydrogen.
The simplest example can be given by a car that, if equipped with fuel Cells works like an electric car, that you do not need to recharge, but that you can instead fuel with Hydrogen, in the same way you fuel an LPG car.
